GoPro faces bankruptcy

The once dominant manufacturer of action cameras warns of possible insolvency. GoPro blames this on the rise in memory prices. But the problems go deeper.

The US action camera manufacturer GoPro is facing insolvency: the company warns investors in its latest financial report that there are «considerable doubts about its own continued existence». US companies are legally obliged to do so if they can no longer be certain that they will remain solvent in the next twelve months. Such a warning is a bad sign and can lead to a vicious circle. This is because it increases the pressure from investors and makes fresh capital more expensive. The share price fell by up to 14 per cent at times on Monday.

Tja.. sowas passiert wenn man keine/falsche Entscheidungen trifft. Da muss ich immer an Yahoo denken. Kennt ihr die Erfolgsgeschichte von Yahoo? Die Kurzversion:

• 1998 hätte Yahoo Google für eine Million USD kaufen können. Ja. Eine Million, hat es aber nicht gemacht.
• 2002 hat Yahoo dann Google drei Milliarden USD angeboten, worauf Google sagte "Nö. Aber für fünf Milliarden verkaufen wir." Yahoo hat abgelehnt.
• 2008 hat Microsoft Yahoo 40 Milliarden geboten und Yahoo hat abgelehnt.
• 2016 wurde dann Yahoo von Verizon aufgekauft; für 4,8 Milliarden USD.
